Regarding 420investor and Alan Brochstein, I can't recommend either more highly. The most essential part of my own due diligence is to pay attention to what Alan says during his weekly chats, or posts throughout the day on the main page of 420investor.

Alan has created a collaborative due diligence platform. Members can share insights about various companies in the forums at 420investor. I had positions in HEMP and PNPL before becoming a subscriber - thanks to Alan, I was able to get out of each before they cratered.

Regarding the daily DAB, sounds like you are mis-reading it. Most penny stock "marijuana" companies are not involved in marijuana and are simply in the business of trying to defraud shareholders. Almost all of the companies in the space in the US are scams. The Focus List tracks some of the real companies which are actually worth paying attention to. They might not be worth investing in. It is simply an index of real companies, not a recommendation to buy or sell a specific stock. Alan also maintains two portfolios on his site, one geared towards trading and one towards longer-term investing. Both are outperforming the index and indeed the Dow Jones etc.  Here's an excerpt from a recent email Alan sent his subscribers:
"We kiss way too many frogs...I am removing [_] and [_] from the Focus List. As a reminder, the Focus List consists of actively traded cannabis stocks, even bad companies, as well as some illiquid ones that may prove out over time. Sadly, almost 3 years into this, the Focus List is still filled with a bunch of dogs and only a few promising companies, mainly [_____]. I gave [_] and [_] each several quarters, but they have both been highly disappointing in their execution in my view. Both companies suffer, in my opinion, from weak leadership, poor fundamentals and an inability to raise capital, a terrible combination for capital gains for investors! I could be wrong to quit "focusing" now, but it's starting to look like roadkill to me and a waste of our activity feed to mention their news. If they prove to be sustainable entities, I can always add them back to the Focus List. In the meantime, I will track [_] and [_], like I do so many other non-Focus List names, in the Forum."

Finally, regarding the annual subscription fee - you omit that one can also pay monthly, US$42. I encourage anyone who has never tried it out to give it a try. After two months I paid the full annual fee of $420. I have made thousands of dollars thanks to Alan's recommendations, and equally or more importantly, not lost thousands more to scam artists thanks to his comprehensive due diligence. I am grateful for his insights.
